How To Get Traffic And Links To Your Blog:

1 Don’t go mad with it, if you are trying to SEO a regular site like this one, then 1 per month is more then enough. If you have a huge holiday website or something with lots of categories to rank, then maybe do one a week, any more time then that spent on it will be wasted.

2 Use the very best article directories that you can get published at and never submit more then two articles to each one, once you have a couple of links from an article directory don’t use it again, find new ones because the links will count more. 15 Tips to help you write a Press Release:

Here are 15 tips to help you write a press release that will impress reporters, and increase your chances of publication.

1. Don’t waste the reporters’ time submitting something that isn’t news. Find an interesting angle or a new twist and you’re almost guaranteed success. If you make your story sound dull it will probably end up in the trash. The best source for ideas is the magazines and newspapers themselves. Not the front-page headlines but the one or two paragraph items on page three or page 10. Play close attention to these because they often suggest something bigger is afoot. If that something can tie into your product or service you’re on to a sure-fire winner.

2. Your headline should summarize your story in ten words or less. It tells the editor, at a glance, if your story is newsworthy or not. Avoid adjectives like “amazing" and “exciting’. It’s a turn off for journalists. A simple title such as,“MarketingBiz.com Announces Launch of Newsletter Service" is better than, “MarketingBiz.com to Launch Exciting and Interesting New Service." Remember, this is news, not advertising.

3. Make sure your lead sentence contains all the main points of your story. It should tell the reader who has done what, where, why and when. Try not to let this sentence ramble on. Make sure it’s straight to the point and contains only essential information.

4. Include all the benefits of your product or service. If your product is 20% cheaper, say so. If your service can help make your client, healthier or wealthier, say so. Concentrate on the advantages to the consumer because no one cares about the advantages the product has to you.

5. Add detail to your story. In the body of your release add extra information in order of importance. But beware; editors delete paragraphs from the end so make sure you include vital information early.

6. If possible include one or two quotes from reliable or expert sources. Quotes give a point of view, reflect the personality of the speaker and add a human element.

7. Keep the length to a single page if possible. Definitely no more than two. Anything over that becomes a chore for the editor. If you must go to two pages put “more" at the bottom of page one so the editor knows there is more to your story. At the end of your release put either the word “Ends" or ### or –30-. This let’s the editor know your release is over.

8. If you’re sending photos with your release, always include a caption listing the names of people in the photo. Include sources, contacts and the release date.

9. Avoid embargoes unless they are absolutely necessary. They are often used to make a story look more important than it actually is. Editors will rarely be fooled and you may find it’s counter-productive.

10. Sending your release to the right people and to enough publications will increase your chances of getting your story printed. There are literally thousands of newspapers, magazines and online publications for trade and the consumer. Find the right ones by:

  • Checking listings in a media directory. You can find them at your local library.
  • Using an online service such as PR Web, that offers free distribution, or a paid service like PR Newswire.
  • Sending the release to trade publications related to your business
  • Contacting local and national TV and Radio

11. The more press releases you issue, the more will get printed. Ensure you issue at least one story a month. But don’t send out a release for the sake of it.

12. If you’re sending your release via email, avoid sending file attachments. Editors are wary of viruses and most will immediately delete your release.

13. Avoid fancy letterheads and gimmicks. What you say is more important.

14. Include contact name(s), telephone number(s) including cell phone numbers and an email address. This may sound obvious, but a surprising number of releases are submitted with this essential information missing.

15. Make your grammar and spelling perfect. A poorly written, grammatically incorrect press release tells the editor one thing…that your company does not have professional standards. Proofread your release several times before you submit it. Don’t just rely on a spell-checker.

Article PR is a way of increasing your search engine ranking. It's a completely legal form of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), favored by Google. In essence, you're trading knowledge for backlinks (inbound links to your site).

Article Submission Tips:
1. Make sure to properly check the guidelines of various article directories - some directories will strip out HTML and some don't. Make sure you take proper care of that in order to obtain maximum links with good anchor texts.
2. Don't use the same article(s) that you submit to article directories ON your website as that may trigger duplicate filters of search engines. If you want to, atleast tweak your article a bit.
3. Don't make too many links to your website in your article - as the chances of your article being approved decreases. As a rule of thumb, get one link in 'Article Body' and two links in 'Author Bio' - this works well for most of the article directories.
4. Find as many article directories as possible that are related to the content on your own site. Google this:

You may let us know of any extra article directories that you are able to find out and we will submit your article(s) to these article directories also.
5. Don't publish your email address while submitting to article directories - as you know what that means? SPAM!!! - or you may make a separate email account for this purpose.
6. If you want your article to be picked up by some of the larger places, then you are better off submitting it by hand under your own name and account (rather using any automated service/software).
7. Make sure to submit your article in only RELEVANT article directories and it should be submitted in the correct category.
8. Consistency is the key. It is a fact that as more and more articles are added to the article directories, your article will go lower in the listings, but if you constantly and consistently submit new articles, then you will continue to reap the benefits.

5 Reasons Why Article Submission Is A Poor SEO Tactic:
I get the feeling that Aaron is not a big fan of using article submission for SEO and neither am I, here are 5 good reasons why article submission is a poor link building tactic and why you should publish your best articles on your own site as opposed to article sites:
1/ If you submit the article to an article site and market the article on social media sites, the links will be going to the article site and not your own.
2/ If you submit the article to an article site and it attracts links from other websites, blogs etc. they will be going to the article site and not your own.
3/ If you submit the article to an article site then the search engine traffic will go to the article site, the readers may or may not click the link to your own site.
4/ If your article is great surely you want the readers of your website to be able to read it, if you submit the article to an article site they won’t.
5/ Most article sites are not trusted by the search engines so the links back to your own site will hold little if any weight.
Publishing informative articles on your own website and marketing them on social media and press release sites etc. is a great SEO tactic and the rewards can be plentiful.
Publishing the article on your own site and article sites is a complete waste of time as article sites generally generate very little traffic and only one copy of the article will be counted by the search engines.
How to do article submission properly:
1/ Don’t post anything really decent that stands a chance of getting links to an article directory, publish the good stuff on your own site in a blog or articles category and publish all of your OK articles on article directories.
2/ Don’t publish any of your articles in more then 1 place. This one rule will help you on so many different levels with SEO. If someone re-publishes your article then that’s fine, but don’t go out of your way to get an article published twice, only one copy will rank in the search engines and pass weight to your site.
3/ Make sure the article directory you are submitting to provides dofollow links and add a keyword text link or two to your author signature, my ones usually come out looking something like this:
“David Eaves knows a lot about search engine optimization, more of his articles can be found at his SEO news blog.”
Generally speaking you should not add links to your pages in the main content area – Ezine Articles and quite a few others nofollow these links so they won’t pass weight there, plus your article will probably come off as being less professional because you will have plugged yourself. The only time this is OK is if you are linking to something that genuinely ads value to your article, like what you can see by viewing the article below:

Improving Your Page Rank on Google

There are numerous tips floating around in Webmaster circles about how to improve your ranking in search engine results on Google.

1. Get Those Inbound Links

Since Google ranks your pages according to the number of links pointing at your page, it stands to reason that you should try to get as many links pointing at your pages as possible. This is so obvious that I'm only mentioning it for completeness sake.

2. Your Title Tag

Google seems to give weight to the title of your page. By title, I mean the text that is sandwiched between the HTML tags in the section of your web page. If you use a Web editor that automatically inserts a title like "New Page", remember to change it to some meaningful text with your keywords inside to reap the benefit of this feature.

3. Content-Laden Pages (Keyword Density)

It has often been observed that Google considers keyword density a large factor in ranking pages in search engine results, more so than many other search engines. 4. Keyword-laden Links?

According to a paper published by one of Google's founders, if the links pointing to your page has the relevant keyword text in them, it will cause your page to be ranked higher in search engine results. For example, a link with the text "Cheap Shoe Store" pointing at your site will cause your site to be listed earlier if a visitor searches for "cheap shoe store" than if the link simply said "click here". · Will Disabling Caching of Your Page Affect Your Page Rank?

Some time ago, it was claimed that Google would penalise pages that forbade it from caching their pages. As you know, Google caches the pages it indexes unless otherwise instructed. To avoid problems with people who feel that this is a copyright infringement (and other reasons), they allow sites to instruct the Google spider not to cache those pages using various means. One such method is outlined in my article on using META tags to manage the search engine spiders and listings.

Google has apparently publicly denied that disabling caching would affect the page's ranking in any way. I tend to believe their claim.

· Dynamic Pages and Google

Unlike some other search engines, Google is able to index dynamically generated pages, so long as a link exist to those pages somewhere. For example, a page like can be indexed by Google.

So if you have a dynamically generated page that you think should be indexed, make sure you put a link to it somewhere on your site.

· ALT tags on Images

If you have been placing images on your website without bothering to place ALT tags, now is a good time to add ALT tags. Google apparently indexes the text given in the ALT tags of images.


· META Keywords Tag is Ignored

Google ignores the META keywords tag, so, the optimization of this tag is not going to help you any with Google.

Google have actually built. They don’t just have the world’s best search engine, they have the world’s largest and most scalable platform for developing huge web-based applications.
